What should I shred?

Secure destruction of confidential information is critical in today’s business environment.

Nationally certified, ShredGuard guarantees the secure, on-site destruction of not only your paper documents, but also your electronic data storage including CDs, DVDs and hard drives.  We provide certification that sensitive information has been professionally destroyed as per nationally accredited standards.

Documents that should be destroyed include (but are not limited to):  records, correspondence, invoices, bank statements, cancelled cheques, profit-and-loss statements, leases, capital stock ledgers, patent and related data, computer print outs, market research studies, customer lists, sales figures, bid documents, strategies, reconciliations, monthly trial balances, claims and litigation records, draft documents, time cards, new product designs, credit reports and applications, marketing and advertising plans, medical records, micro media, drug screens, bank statements, cash books, financial statements, tax returns, trademark information, complaints, blueprints and drawings, contracts, R&D information, personnel records, memos and legal briefs, technical data.

Why can’t I shred it myself?

Employee errors (Should I shred or not?) and breaches of confidentiality can be costly outcomes of in-house shredding.  Some office shredders are limited to basic strip cutting which can be easily re-assembled by hand or software.  Office shredders also produce high levels of dust particles that have been known to affect asthmatics and people with allergies. In-house shredding also wastes employee time by taking their focus away from core business responsibilities.

ShredGuard can provide the necessary certification that sensitive information has been professionally destroyed as per nationally accredited standards – in-house shredding does not meet these standards.

How much does shredding cost?

The cost to shred is based on the amount of paper you produce and the frequency of your shred service.  On-site shredding is secure and very cost effective.  Contact one of ShredGuard’s customer service representatives to determine the best way we can meet your needs.

Is it safer to shred my information on-site?

Yes. On-site shredding with ShredGuard affords you the opportunity to witness the actual destruction of your documents via a closed circuit monitor. Our secure shredding process is carried out on-site, by especially trained, bonded technicians in our state-of-the-art mobile shredding trucks.  This process maintains the integrity of the chain-of-custody of your confidential information and reduces your exposure to risk and liability.

How do I know my confidential information is safe with ShredGuard?

You can be confident in the security of your information with all ShredGuard employees.  Our employees are bonded, trained professionals with clean criminal backgrounds whose sole responsibility is the secure and confidential destruction of your sensitive documents, electronic data storage (CDs, DVDs) and hard drives.

What happens to my information once it has been shredded?

Shredding is actually an environmentally responsible practice.  All shredded paper is sent to paper mills for reprocessing into recycled products.  Recycling one tonne of paper saves approximately 17 mature trees, 26,000 litres of water, two barrels of oil, and 4,100 kilowatt hours of electricity (six-month’s worth of energy consumption for the average home).

What if my shredding volume changes?

ShredGuard will provide service as you need it. It can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly and ultimately depends on how much paper you produce. If at any time during your contract you determine that you need to increase your frequency, ShredGuard will be happy to accommodate such changes by providing additional storage containers and/or more frequent pick ups.
